Hi everyone! I'm Wilson, and today I'm excited to share with you how social practice shaped my time here at Magic University. Social practice is all about making a positive difference in our community and beyond. Whether it's helping out with a project, raising awareness for a cause, or just doing something that benefits others, it's all about taking action to create change.
For me, it all started with a campus clean-up during my freshman year. Honestly, I just showed up because a friend invited me, but once I got involved, I realized how powerful it is when a group of people come together to improve their surroundings.
A project I loved working on was a fundraising campaign for a local charity called FundGo. We set up donation booths, held a charity run, and even got some local businesses to chip in. We ended up raising over $5,000, which was amazing! It really showed me how generous our community can be when we all pitch in.
Another project I'm super proud of is the campus clean-up we organized last semester. We got over 100 students to spend a Saturday morning picking up litter around the university. It wasn't just about making the place look nicer; it was about showing that we care about our environment and that we can all play a part in keeping it clean.
Of course, it wasn't all smooth sailing. For the clean-up, we initially had a tough time getting enough volunteers. But after some last-minute social media posts and a lot of asking around, we ended up with more help than we expected! It was a great reminder that sometimes you just need to keep pushing, even when things seem tough.
I think the coolest part of all this has been seeing the impact of our efforts. After the campus clean-up, we ended up removing over 500 pounds of trash—how crazy is that? And with our cleaning program, we've kept the campus looking great and made it a more pleasant place for everyone.
Thanks for sticking with me through this little journey of social practice at Magic University. I really hope this inspires you to take action and make a difference in our community. Remember, no matter how small it seems, every effort counts. Take care, and I’ll see you around!
